WeAreFabric.io Review: Legit Cash for Ads or Scam?

WeAreFabric.io (now rebranded as Fabric or FabricPay) markets itself as a “Social Banking App that pays you”. Its slick homepage boldly proclaims “Watch ads. Get paid!” and outlines a clear user flow: open a Fabric bank account, watch sponsored videos to earn Social CA$H, then convert that into real dollars via a Fabric debit card once you reach a $50 threshold (5000 CA$H).

All the promotional materials – including screenshots of a mobile interface – reinforce this model. From what I could gather, Fabric claims you simply sign up, view ads to accumulate points, and eventually cash out those earnings as U.S. dollars.

How Fabric (WeAreFabric) Is Supposed to Work

According to the official site and FAQs, the process works in steps:

  1. Sign Up: Register for a Fabric account (the site says this is currently available only to U.S. residents 18+ with a valid Social Security Number).
  2. Watch Ads: Use the mobile app (once it’s available) to watch video advertisements. Each ad view earns you Social CA$H in your account.
  3. Reach Payout Threshold: Accumulate 5000 Social CA$H (about $50). At that point, the site says you’ll be placed on a VIP waitlist for a Fabric virtual debit card.
  4. Cash Out: When invited off the waitlist, you can convert your earned CA$H into USD and withdraw or spend the funds using the FabricPay debit card.

These steps are laid out on Fabric’s site and FAQs. For example, the site explains: “After you watch the equivalent of 5000 Social CA$H ($50), you are automatically placed on our VIP list…”. The interface mockups reinforce this workflow, showing a Step 1 (Onboarding), Step 2 (Watch ads to earn CA$H), then Steps for cashing out and using the FabricPay card. All in all, Fabric’s pitch is straightforward: watch ads to fill a digital wallet, then withdraw the cash once you hit $50.

My Experience and Observations

I went through the motions of trying Fabric. After signing up, I explored the interface mockups they provided. The screenshot above shows an in-app ad screen from WeAreFabric’s interface: a McDonald’s video ad is playing, and the UI indicates I’ve earned some Social CA$H (“24k Fabric views, 2M CA$H awarded”). This matches Fabric’s claim of “Watch ads. Get Paid!” (indeed, the site text under Step 2 says “Watch ads to earn CA$H”). The app design looks polished, and the demo suggests a gamified ad-watching experience.

In practice, however, nothing was happening in real time – these were just images. I couldn’t find any app download or live ad. The platform’s FAQ confirms the reason: the app is still in development. It explicitly states that there is no release date yet (“we don’t have an exact date of completion”). In other words, I can sign up and pretend to earn Social CA$H, but there’s no functioning system to convert it to cash at the moment. As a user, my “balance” remains theoretical.

Importantly, I noticed the eligibility requirements: the FAQ specifies Fabric is “currently only available in the USA” and users must be U.S. citizens 18+ with an SSN and ID. So even though Fabric’s demo looks ready, you actually can’t use it unless you meet those criteria. I did fill out the account info (including a SSN as required), but at this stage, it only put me on a waiting list. The site says once I reach 5000 CA$H, I’ll eventually get an email invite to open a bank account and use the card. As of now, I’m still waiting for that email – and realistically, it’s unclear when (or if) it will arrive.

Community Feedback and Trust

According to outside opinions, Fabric has a varied and generally unfavorable reputation. A Scamadviser review flags FabricPay.com (WeAreFabric’s new site) with a low trust score and explicitly warns it “might be a scam” use a legitimacy checker to review it yourself. The report notes the business model resembles typical paid-to-click (PTC) schemes and highlights “mainly negative reviews” found online. In practice, that seems to match what I found on forums: some users claim to enjoy the concept, but many others say they never saw any real payouts after hitting the $50 mark.

One blog review puts it bluntly: “WeAreFabric.io is a scam that tricks users by promising to pay them for watching ads but never actually does.” It points out that the company even changed its name from WeAreFabric.io to FabricPay.com – a move it suggests was made “likely to hide bad reviews”.

Another analysis notes that the sudden rebranding and lack of transparent company details are classic red flags. On Trustpilot, I see a handful of mixed reviews (the site’s Trustpilot page shows an average of about 3.8/5 from 9 reviewers), but unfortunately, the details are locked behind login. I did find some users complaining about broken pages or unanswered support requests.

On the flip side, Fabric appears to be a real startup (the site’s terms name SocialCash Inc. as the operating company), and their investor page even lists partnerships with known firms. But none of that guarantees the service will deliver on its promises. Crucially, I have found no verified proof of anyone earning and withdrawing money from Fabric. No independent payment screenshots or news stories confirm it works. Given the blank app and the skepticism online, the evidence so far is that this is an unproven scheme at best.

Conclusion and Recommendations

In my attempt, WeAreFabric (FabricPay) felt like a nicely packaged concept with zero delivered value so far. You can join the site and see how it’s supposed to work – the user interface is inviting, and signing up is free – but you can’t get paid yet. The site itself admits the app isn’t live. Here’s the bottom line:

  • No Real Payouts Now: All your earnings are just hypothetical until the app launches. Even if you reach the 5000 CASH milestone, you only get “waitlisted” for a card.
  • Proceed with Caution: Third-party checks are wary. Scamadviser warns it “might be a scam”, and online reviews often complain about promised money never arriving.
  • Protect Your Data: If you decide to sign up, use only minimal personal info (though a valid SSN is required). There’s no payment required, but be aware of giving up data to an unproven venture.
  • Wait for Evidence: For now, treat Fabric as an experimental side-hustle idea rather than a guaranteed income. Watch for the official app launch and for credible users to post proof of payment before expecting anything.

In summary: WeAreFabric (Fabric) is not fake – it’s a real company with a real site – but it also hasn’t earned user trust or a track record. My experience shows the concept is unfinished. I would not rely on it as a legitimate money-maker yet. If you’re curious, you can try it out (it costs nothing), but don’t expect to “get paid” anytime soon until you see solid proof of someone cashing out.
